Was Your Dad a Metre Man?
Did he install the meters
Or did he stand in the way
Of the men who installed the metres
But were sent away
By ordinary heros
Nobody tough or rough or hard
Stood up to bullying builders
Security officers and guard
Was your dad one of these
Or was it to install the metres he came?
The future will be asked of your children
Can they answer with pride or shame?
Will they have to lie like some
Who were asked about their kind
Were they landlords agents or tenants activists
Any old excuse the guilt ridden would find
So its up to you and you alone
Make your choice: your stand: you can
Will your children say you were a hero
Or try to hide that you were a Metre Man?
