Athlone some few hundred years ago
A story of which historians speak
In far Ukraine, another bridge
Held by a modern day Costume, this week
Oh, poems much better than this one
– and that would not be hard! –
Shall be written of the Costume of out times
Than the quick written lines of this bard.
A soldier fights to die so others can live
Lives as long as he can
Thats what makes a soldier, a patriot
Thats what makes a man.
What is life but to be lived,
To be lived is best in death
Ukraine, Ireland, separated by time and miles
We are in these mens debt.
