The Waters Show No Mercy

Dedicated to the memory of Tom and Martin Oliver who lost their lives between Blackrock and Silver Strand yesterday.

The waters show no mercy:
There is little kindness in the sea.
The wind is the master of all,
Who on the waters wild waves be.

Those who seek its bounty
Risk their lives a living to take,
The ocean incited by wild winds…
A rough journey for all does make.

They no longer sail the Hookers of old:
Unless for sport or to give a tour to a stranger.
For all they have that new its true:
A boat is a boat, always in danger.

Sometimes its not the tossing waves,
There is danger in all they do,
The water itself, even if its calm:
It still can be deadly too.

God looks down on all,
Who to Him for protection pray.
Sometimes even that is not enough:
The prayers that people say.

Life at best is fleeting,
We never know the day nor hour.
There is little kindness in the sea,
Its crashing waves of violent power.
