Out for a Walk at Ballybrit

An old couple of a dateless age,
Over sixty, under ninety, somewhere between:
Out for their daily walk with their two little dogs,
Theirs strolls I while working for the last few years have seen.

The old people walked slow and sure as the aged do,
The pup, running, curious and full of life…
The older dog walks slower with the passing years,
Often waited for to catch up by the man and his wife.

Time marched on. They walked today
For the old dog, the last hundred yards walk was too far,
Aged dog picked up by an aging man,
His wife, he, and the young dog walked to their car…

Have your say...
