Murder of a Worm in Scotland
I saw the murder of a worm
On a sunny morning as I did yawn
And a bird, probably a blackbird
Committed the horrible act upon the lawn…
“Och, I am but a wee morsal” said the worm
“I don’t care” replied the bird
And without a feck with a quick peck
He was as good as his word…
And at once as past tense was the worm
I saw murder before me there
I just stood and drank my tea
The death did not matter: I did not care…
It is but a worm, a lowly worm
To kill to eat is the birds natural need
Who’d get upset about a worm?
Murder for food is a natural deed…
Later I was watching the news
A war with victims and refugees somewhere
I changed the channel and drank my tea
The conflict did not matter: I did not care…
It is another country: it is not here
Man to fight man is a natural need
Who’d get upset about a war?
Murder for power and money is a natural deed…
