Fighting the Black Snake

The Keystone XL pipeline is just one of quite a few projects set to cut accross sacred lands of the Native Americans. A cut in one of them will flood and destroy the Native territories, alternative routes have been dismissed, and the situation has been seen as a coming true of the Black Snake prophecy common to Native American cultures from the Hopi to the Mohawk and the Sioux.
“The demolition is devastating,” Archambault told the AP. “These grounds are the resting places of our ancestors. The ancient cairns and stone prayer rings there cannot be replaced. In one day, our sacred land has been turned into hollow ground.”
