Fence at the Mound of the Hostages
Steel erected to protect
Is what they claim
Offends all sensitivities
Let us explain
What others call piseogs
We call respect
For the beliefs of the dead
Whose resting place they have wrecked.
If a Moslem at Christmas
Done to Calvary
What is done at the Mound of the Hostages
What protests would we see?
What we ask of others
To be done to our own
We to that of others
Similar respect should be shown.
Give to nature, of nature
And if must work, choose a time
To wait is a virtue
To consult not a crime.
Those who object are not awkward
They just ask to reflect
On all that we do before we do
And show a little respect.
