Banagher Horse Fair
I grew up in the town of Banagher, whose annual street horse fair is one of my favourite memories growing up. An element have been trying to shut it down, with the town blockaded in 2014 and again this year.
This year, the fair grew from last year, and the officials were reduced to insisiting on papers for the horses as opposed to shutting down the fair, though they did turn away a lot of lorries.
The Fair is going since 1608, and it would be a shame to lose it now.
The Facebook page is here, and poems and blogs supporting the fair can be accessed here.
