Two Roman Bridges at Porto Torres
Two proud Roman bridges standing
Over a small river commanding
Beside a town, forever expanding
As over and under them I walked
I wonder, in the years to come
Will others wonder from where were from
Thinking our technology old and dumb
Will it be the same the language talked?
By the peoples in both our lands
Each of which hold off invading bands
That walked the older bridge that stands
That in time also will
I wonder for all we have that’s new
That we think our our constructions true
Will the walk the newer like the older I do
Will it at all be standing still?
