Letter to Santa

An exasperated Irish taxpayer writes a letter to Santy, as it will bring more change than writing to Enda Kenny asking for fair play for the Irish taxpayer and mortgage holder!
An exasperated Irish taxpayer writes a letter to Santy, as it will bring more change than writing to Enda Kenny asking for fair play for the Irish taxpayer and mortgage holder!

Dear Santa, I am a taxpayer, Im been good throughout the year,
Ive paid up all my taxes, and did not cry a tear,
I attended no protest marches, did not riot in any Dublin street
I cannot understand Enda Kenny’s spite and conceit.
He holds the strings to my life, Im a puppet, he controls the purse,
Condescendingly thanks me and my kind for taking it, says hes glad it isn’t worse,
But the big bankers  and the corporations, who pay more all know they could,
They don’t because they do not have to, even though they know they should.

So, all I want for Christmas, is a meteorite to hit the Dáil,
Wipe out all the cowboys, in Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil,
A plague to strike the bankers, yes, a smite direct from Gods hand,
For every chancer and mover and shaker who makes more than a hundred grand,
For you cant make money like that honestly, only if your a crook,
The biggest ones wear suits, not masks, they rob by the law and book,
They laugh at us, demand bailouts, a figure picked up from their arse,
They need their comeuppance, who reduced this nation to a farce.

The crime of owning your own home, they taxed us for the pleasure,
As if it was an extra, like a holiday or fancy second car for leisure,
They dont see that home owners save the state at least a hundred grand,
Think we’re arrogant for housing ourselves, and for it they will not stand.
Evil alliance between Tory’s and more of a strange shade of Red,
One hates little people having any, the others want all dependent on the State instead,
Both reduce people to serfdom, whether to Councils or Landlords,
The former cripples further the state, the latter only the rich rewards.

Im a grown man, you ask, why write to Santa Clause?
And as I sign off on this letter, to ponder why I pause,
Well, I know since I was a kid, that Santas is not as such real,
And yet, he is my only hope, that is true, I feel.
Sure didnt we believe the politicians promises, now broken, that make us curse,
Instead of making things better, they made the flippan worse…,
So, I sign off my letter to Santa, throw it up the chimney with a prayer,
Which is as effective as writing to a TD, who for me and my problems does not care!

Have your say...
