{"id":90,"date":"2014-04-02T12:59:11","date_gmt":"2014-04-02T12:59:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/writingsinrhyme.com\/?p=90"},"modified":"2014-08-08T13:00:37","modified_gmt":"2014-08-08T13:00:37","slug":"miles-plans-expedition-to-ireland-wanderings-of-the-gael","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/writingsinrhyme.com\/index.php\/miles-plans-expedition-to-ireland-wanderings-of-the-gael\/","title":{"rendered":"Miles Plans Expedition to Ireland &#8211; Wanderings of the Gael"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>One of a series of poems drawn from the Taking of Ireland, exploring the thesems and theories of the modern day of our origions, and personalising it with family legends of ours!<\/em> <\/p>\n<p>Miles, leader of soldiers, fought for Pharaoh Nectonibus<br \/>\nBrave as if his son, against Ethiopian armies, risked his life,<br \/>\nPharaoh grateful, knowing a wise leader and a brave man,<br \/>\nHonoured the widower for marriage his daughter as a wife.<br \/>\nNo stranger among Egyptians, among them lived for eight years,<br \/>\nSent some of his people to the folk of skills their trades to learn<br \/>\nSo that when Egypt they left and they reached their destination<br \/>\nTheir skills they would employ and all their folk benefit from earn.<br \/>\nHe arrived back there to his kingdom Spain, where then lived his people<br \/>\nAmong unrest and war with those peoples who lived there before<br \/>\nAlso the arrival of some fierce new foreigners armies&#8230;<br \/>\nRouted all in battles fought bravely, numbered fifty, and four!<\/p>\n<p>For another twenty six long years, one after the other,<br \/>\nScorched land it was parched dry, little water, the people they there starved<br \/>\nWorried king, who prayed long to the Gods, looked helplessly on his people<br \/>\nBuried their dead, those alive as flesh to the bone, the hunger carved.<br \/>\nThe king, he pondered, being a great thinker, a man of knowledge,<br \/>\nThought that the Gods they were wild angry and he knew they knew best,<br \/>\nWanted to drive him and his people back to their boats on the wild seas<br \/>\nTo resume on the rough waves for the Promised Isle, their quest.<br \/>\nThe ancient prophesy of the Druid Cachear, he remembered,<br \/>\nHe, once set on a quest never was known to shirk or to fail,<br \/>\nThese folk of the sea under their king they assembled a new fleet<br \/>\nAs feet on waves to the unknown in adventure set sail.<\/p>\n<p>As fleets sailed west seeking the fair isle did wild winds scatter them?<br \/>\nDid some said east wash up on the shores of the land of Gaul?<br \/>\nLater reach Ireland as Clan Eoghanchta, last arrivals?<br \/>\nDid more scattered west from the mainfleet on Scotland make landfall?<br \/>\nCould this be how Kennedy is of Munster, also of Ayr<br \/>\nWhere to the wild winds of the Atlantic their castle today stands<br \/>\nBefore they came then with the English to the fields of Ulster<br \/>\nWhere they vie today with the Gael for the control of those lands?<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>GLOSSARY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>* &#8220;Cachear&#8221; &#8211; Druid who foretold of landing on a promised isle, for which they must search<br \/>\n* Nectonibus &#8211; Pharoh, who gave his daughter Scota in marraige to the widower Miles<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of a series of poems drawn from the Taking of Ireland, exploring the thesems and theories of the modern day of our origions, and personalising it with family legends of ours!
