They nested regular in our garden and yard, and their nervous flittering about (a drop of the devils blood was on their tail according to a folklore story of my mothers) is unmissable to birdwatchers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Little bird, upon my windowsill&#8230;<br \/>\nI watch your comings and goings from day to day<br \/>\nWhy is it, that when I draw near,<br \/>\nYou suddenly take flight and fly away?<br \/>\nFor I have nothing but friendship to give<br \/>\nI, though human, understand your plight.<br \/>\nI know that you too were meant to live\u2026<br \/>\nBut I cannot understand your fright.<br \/>\nIs it because of the cruelty of my fellow man<br \/>\nAgainst you and yours again and again?<br \/>\nWell if it is, there is little I can say<br \/>\nBar I am not one of those cruel wicked men.<br \/>\nAlas my friend, or so it seems to me,<br \/>\nA brief glimpse of each other through a window is as close as we can ever be.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When growing up in Banagher, the Willie Wagtail was one of my favourite birds.
