There was hunger in a land of plenty
\nWhen the troops came for the grain
\nTo feed others, in a distant land
\nLeft to die those that remain
\nWho feed all bar their own
\nTheir children left to die
\nTheir neighbour like a parasite
\nAnd the famine they did deny<\/p>\n
This was Ukraine… and so too Ireland
\nOne hundred years before
\nWhere England lived off Irish food
\nWhere there was food for its people and more
\nAnd a million Irish died
\nAnd of the bereft
\nTo make a living they could not
\nSo their native land they left.<\/p>\n
Ireland… Ukraine… so far apart
\nA shared history they are one
\nAnd for the moment the parasite
\nFrom their lands have gone.
\nWhat land will it be next time?
\nWho to sponge from their weaker neighbour will choose?
\nAnd to clear their name and hide their shame
