Was A Slovakian (Deceased)"},"content":{"rendered":"<address>On the day Ireland beat Slovakia 1-0 at soccer, (28th of March,2007) Irish Mail on Sunday journalist Paul Palmer found that his next door neighbour, a Slovak national he never met, was murdered in his flat.He goes on to lament Ireland has changed, how foreigners don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t integrate and live like the Irish, not taking into account that this green and pleasant land of ours is not as green and pleasant for an immigrant as it is for the more prosperous members of our own society. <\/address>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.writingsinrhyme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Kevin-Doyle-scores-for-Ireland-against-Slovakia.jpg\" alt=\"Kevin Doyle scores for Ireland against Slovakia\" width=\"971\" height=\"341\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3224\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Irish Dream was broken<br \/>\nWhen a man without a name<br \/>\nWas murdered by others unknown<br \/>\nFound by, when home he came<br \/>\nHis neighbour who never met him<br \/>\nFor those cold stone walls<br \/>\nAre more effective than Checkpoint Charlie<br \/>\nAs one to his neighbour never calls.<\/p>\n<p>And from a red coroners coffin<br \/>\nOpen \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the corpse not hid<br \/>\nA journalist looked on a dead man<br \/>\nBefore he was covered by the lid<br \/>\nAnd from behind his closed door<br \/>\nShaking, he heard the coffin screws<br \/>\nClose the lid on his neighbour<br \/>\nWhat a way your life to lose<\/p>\n<p>Unknown to another<br \/>\nSeparated by stone walls<br \/>\nThe Irishman ignored his fellow man<br \/>\nYet, a Christian himself he calls.<br \/>\nOh, oh, the shock the horror,<br \/>\nThat such a man could die<br \/>\nUnknown and alone<br \/>\nWe wring our hands and ask why&#8230;?<\/p>\n<p>Probably a party<br \/>\nBoisterous, too much booze<br \/>\nThe way you live is how you die<br \/>\nIts up to you to choose<br \/>\nThose who walk past the public house<br \/>\nRefused to integrate<br \/>\nBy wasting their money in a pub<br \/>\nThey don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t contribute to the state<br \/>\nThis man of books and education<br \/>\nDoes not seem to understand<br \/>\nThis man is from the underclass<br \/>\nThat powers our New Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>An Irishman beside him works<br \/>\nThe same hours each day<br \/>\nThe Slovak works as hard as he,<br \/>\nBut earns half the pay.<br \/>\nAnd of his little wages<br \/>\nPays the same as an Irishman for his flat<br \/>\nBut our college educated pal<br \/>\nSeems not to know of that.<br \/>\nWhen you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve worked hard for what you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve got<br \/>\nYou won\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t throw it all away<br \/>\nThe Slovak works to go home<br \/>\nTo a better future someday.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, the Irishman in England<br \/>\nWorked hard, and drank all as a rule<br \/>\nSuch waste leads to such want<br \/>\nWe should not praise a fool.<br \/>\nLet us look to our neighbour<br \/>\nCall in a couple of nights<br \/>\nBe a friend in a cold hard world<br \/>\nHelp a man fight for his rights.<\/p>\n<p>Once upon a time Christ lived<br \/>\nAnd died in an apartment alone<br \/>\nIgnored by his fellow man<br \/>\nWho failed to call or phone.<br \/>\nFor Christ that day was that Slovak<br \/>\nFor once upon a time he did decree<br
