Druids prayer – to a god you know
\nAnd have prayed to through the years
\nThat you say has never let you down
\nAnd made you face your fears.
\nI hear your chants in the morning sun
\nAs the jackdaw takes to the sky
\nFrom the branch of the sacred yew
\nTo among his kindred fly.<\/p>\n
An Ollamh recites his verse
\nIn mumbled utterings to himself known
\nA understudy’s garb of green in the wind blows
\nHis status as student shown
\nA king in drunken slumbers sleeps
\nAmong women naked two
\nAnd the monk in his cell too says his prayers
\nTo the God that Abraham knew.<\/p>\n
Your time to an end is coming
\nNo matter how you chant your prayers
\nIncantations and curses that you dole
\nAnimals are sold at fairs
\nAnd folk follow the faiths their kings tell them to
\nAnd as they abandon yours and you
\nTake solace in the fact they from Jesus will stray
