Belturbet – the waters from Lough Gowna come left to right in the picture<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

From the well the calf it leaped
\nAs unwisely the widow chose
\nFor ease her load not too long to carry
\nIn a holy well to wash her clothes:<\/p>\n

– It is a belief that if sullied
\nA holy well of water will dry
\nThough it has been a plentiful flowing before –
\nThat is the reason it is said why<\/p>\n

Lough Gowna was formed from where we are from
\nAs to the Erne it flows to sea
\n( Erne Head indeed was a Doppings Big House)
\nNearby is the homesteads of those like me<\/p>\n

Who are of a shared North Longford stock,
\nNow scattered nation and world wide
\nMy forefathers came from where these waters are from
\nI think of them as I walk in Belturbet by Ernes side. <\/p>\n
