Grand Canal in Offaly 0 farther along the canal from here a girl was jogging last week, before being brutally murdered. She was going for a run. Her name was Ashling. A suspect is facing trial having being charged.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The music lives on that Aisling played
\nShe lives on in the hearts she touched, the friends she made
\nThe children she taught… a nation dismayed
\nThat thought such couldn’t happen in daylight.<\/p>\n

The canal waters still gently flow
\nWhere not too long ago
\nShe was just another jogger who few did know
\nAs should be every womans’ right…<\/p>\n

She was not the first, sadly won’t be the last
\nUnder skies sunny and overcast
\nWho by men of evil intent unknowingly passed
\nWho we remember today.<\/p>\n

Urantsetseg, too, yet another name
\nDied returning home from the work for which she came
\nTo Ireland to do, a man to blame
\nWho for money took her life away.<\/p>\n

Some chaps get angry saying, “Not all men…!”
\nKnowing full well that yet again
\nAnother woman will die, and then
\nThey will wonder how and why.<\/p>\n

It’s always a certain type of man
\n– Has been since time itself began –
\nWho does such things because he can
\nIt’s always women who die.<\/p>\n

It’s time we stand as society
\nTo say: “This is not OK with me
\nWomen should have the right to be safe and free
\nWe will make sure this time!”<\/p>\n

Justice, like time, drips sure if slow
\nWe pray it works as each day does go
\nWe pray for those who Ashling did know
\nAnd all the other victims of such crime…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
