{"id":5086,"date":"2021-10-14T13:44:04","date_gmt":"2021-10-14T12:44:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/writingsinrhyme.com\/?p=5086"},"modified":"2021-10-14T13:44:04","modified_gmt":"2021-10-14T12:44:04","slug":"had-she-never-written-a-poem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/writingsinrhyme.com\/index.php\/had-she-never-written-a-poem\/","title":{"rendered":"Had She Never Written a Poem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Oh that as they lay there<br \/>\nOn the floor of the family home<br \/>\nTaken by gas like to many of their folk<br \/>\nHad she never written a poem!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; For all their beauty they are not worth<br \/>\nThe sin that only God can forgive &#8211;<br \/>\nHer little ones, born and unborn<br \/>\nHad she only let them live!<\/p>\n<p>One to see life, and to live to age<br \/>\nTo bury her some distant morn&#8230;<br \/>\nAnd cry a tear at her passing&#8230;<br \/>\nThe other just to be born&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/elcultural.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/imgBD\/20150327\/letras\/img\/36179_1.jpg\" width=\"510\" height=\"295\" alt=\"Assia Wevill\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Background:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe poetess and translator <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Assia_Wevill\">Assia Esther Wevill (ne\u00e9 Gutmann)<\/a> was a tragic figure in the circle and the love triangle with Sylvia Plath, and like Plath tragically took her own life. Alas compounding that she also gassed her living child, having aborted a prior pregnancy.
