{"id":4910,"date":"2021-01-02T03:46:16","date_gmt":"2021-01-02T03:46:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.writingsinrhyme.com\/?p=4910"},"modified":"2021-01-02T03:46:16","modified_gmt":"2021-01-02T03:46:16","slug":"we-are-not-each-others-enemy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/writingsinrhyme.com\/index.php\/we-are-not-each-others-enemy\/","title":{"rendered":"We Are Not Each Others Enemy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Time long ago &#8211; a hundred  years &#8211; in a land where welcomes were slim<br \/>\nA team came together &#8211; Brother Walfrid, we thank him<br \/>\nThe Irish played, and they still do, for the community, the team<br \/>\nThat means more than a mere trophy, that meant for them, a dream.<\/p>\n<p>In the Ireland of today, in Blanchardstown and Corduff<br \/>\nTensions are high, we wonder why someone does not shout enough&#8230;<br \/>\nThere is a team that has a dream, like our Celtic those years ago,<br \/>\nYet its strange that there somehow, death is something they should know.<\/p>\n<p>No one died who played for Celtic, at a policemans hand<br \/>\nBut supporters have often died, due to political stand<br \/>\nOf the victim or their attacker, we understand how they did die<br \/>\nBut Blanchardstown is not the Gorbals, and we look and wonder why<\/p>\n<p>TWO boys from the same team, of the Celtic of our time<br \/>\nCould end up dead at due to police, or a residents crime<br \/>\nWhat will it take for us to make divisions like this go away<br \/>\nWe are not the enemy of each other, we must to each other say.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/writingsinrhyme.celtichosting.com\/index.php\/we-are-not-each-others-enemy\/soccer-ball\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4911\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/writingsinrhyme.celtichosting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Soccer-Ball.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"299\" height=\"168\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4911\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Background<\/strong> &#8211; George Nkencho was shot by ERU due to a fight with a shop worker where the deceased pulled a knife, had a second altercation with a post office worker and members of the public and then a running standoff with police that ended up at his house, where he was shot dead. The family claim racist motives &#8211; which I doubt &#8211; but their viewpoint can be seen from a perceived lack of empathy from the police to the aggression shown by some locals in the area, which is plagued by gang violence originating in both communities.<\/p>\n<p>Peaceful protests I approve of, be they justified or not. But the way the protests and assaults on passers by are happening in Dublin is beyond whats acceptable.
