The Orangemen, for all their pomp, their names are largely forgotten.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I walk where Orangemen don&#8217;t do now<br \/>\nWho walked this day so long ago<br \/>\nWhen our folk stayed off of the road<br \/>\nAs they passed, banners on show<br \/>\nTo fife and drum, their sashes blew<br \/>\nAs they still do up north today<br \/>\nBut I walk here now, passing their church<br \/>\nIn Drumshambo, on Orange Day.  <\/p>\n<p>I walked past the famine graveyard<br \/>\nI stopped to say a prayer<br \/>\nAnd wrote that once a poet passed<br \/>\nAnd stopped by their graves there<br \/>\nWho have no names, but lie beside the Piper<br \/>\nAs verse I write in Italic font<br \/>\nAs I left, I blessed myself<br \/>\nFrom the rain filled holy water font.  <\/p>\n<p>All are dead now, the famine dead and the Orangemen<br \/>\nWho walked there those times now past<br \/>\nTyranny and pride will have its day<br \/>\nBut it&#8217;s day will never last.<br \/>\nI walk beside Lough Allen<br \/>\nReturning into town,<br \/>\nI resolve to write of the Famine dead<br \/>\nTo curse the Orangemen and the Crown.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The dead from the Great Hunger, with no names, lie and are remembered.
