\nJohn Kennedy, and his blushing bride
\nMary Douglas, at the alter did meet…
\nTill death to each other they declared
\nLittle did they know it would be so soon:
\nHer tears would be seen not her bridal smiles
\nBy the watching rising moon.<\/p>\n

Kennedy fell dead – having returned to the fighting
\nShe – a new Grace – was a widow now
\nAs if Cupid himself was shot on an Irish street
\nThe Gods of fate they wonder how.
\nAn unknown love story of a tragic war
\nAmong thousands of others on each side forgotten
\nWas it worth it, what they settled for?
