Gortagown without a crown:
\nSo in time its name was made –
\nSo again its famous in modern time
\nFor the hen, and the eggs she laid…<\/p>\n

She raised clutches by the dozen:
\nThe chicks she raised raised clutches more!
\nAll agreed who knew their hens,
\nHer likes was never seen before!<\/p>\n

Like all mere hens shes the humble sort…
\nAnong the dust loved to peck and fooster,
\nLoves live, her chicks, she lives for them:
\nEnjoys her times with her favourite rooster!<\/p>\n

Each year passes she amazes,
\nFolk of the Guinness Book of Records came to see
\nThe greatest hen that Gortagown,
\nOr Ireland, ever did see.<\/p>\n

She had 54 chicks in a single year<\/a>…
\nWhich brings water to the eye…
\nOf humans who might have two in a lifetime…
\nAnd struggle to make it by!<\/p>\n

“Sure that bates Banagher” quipped some passers by
\nWho thought it a wild tall tale or yarn by a joker made
\nBut when she was on the telly itself
