Life indeed tames us all&#8230; or am I just feeling old?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As the sun set and the night crept in<br \/>\nThe lights shone bright of the passing cars<br \/>\nBy Lough Annagh I sat on the summers evening<br \/>\nAs the county got ready to go to bars<br \/>\nAs I once did, not so much any more<br \/>\nFor every phase there is a time that does pass<br \/>\nOlder now, am I getting sensible I ask<br \/>\nAs I get up from seated on the grass.<\/p>\n<p>Age calms us all, that we though we would never see<br \/>\nI thrive the in the country I once thought odd<br \/>\nHaving grown up in the heart of a country town<br \/>\nWhere the old in fear renewed acqaintence with God<br \/>\nAs the bell for the Angelous rang<br \/>\nOr morning mass, Banagher hill climbed folk not able to walk<br \/>\nHaving little else in old age to do maybe<br \/>\nGetting peace of mind: meeting a friend for a talk.<\/p>\n<p>Shall I like them one day be<br \/>\nRosary beads in hand in chapel pews<br \/>\nOr on the sunday morning as the pub opens<br \/>\nBe waiting outside for the want of booze?<br \/>\nWhat lifes brings us to, reduces us in time<br \/>\nAnother beast entirely of man life will make<br \/>\nI walked the roads to my little home<br \/>\nI remember that walk at Annagh Lake.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A rather melancholic reflection I remember while walking last year at Annagh Lake.
