Annagh Lake in North Longford near Ballinamuck<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A rather melancholic reflection I remember while walking last year at Annagh Lake. Life indeed tames us all… or am I just feeling old?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As the sun set and the night crept in
\nThe lights shone bright of the passing cars
\nBy Lough Annagh I sat on the summers evening
\nAs the county got ready to go to bars
\nAs I once did, not so much any more
\nFor every phase there is a time that does pass
\nOlder now, am I getting sensible I ask
\nAs I get up from seated on the grass.<\/p>\n

Age calms us all, that we though we would never see
\nI thrive the in the country I once thought odd
\nHaving grown up in the heart of a country town
\nWhere the old in fear renewed acqaintence with God
\nAs the bell for the Angelous rang
\nOr morning mass, Banagher hill climbed folk not able to walk
\nHaving little else in old age to do maybe
\nGetting peace of mind: meeting a friend for a talk.<\/p>\n

Shall I like them one day be
\nRosary beads in hand in chapel pews
\nOr on the sunday morning as the pub opens
\nBe waiting outside for the want of booze?
\nWhat lifes brings us to, reduces us in time
\nAnother beast entirely of man life will make
\nI walked the roads to my little home
