I didn&#8217;t know him well, but enjoyed his works, and found him a pleasant down to earth person.<\/p>\n<p>He was part of the A-musing arts collective among others, and appeared and enjoyed festivals and arts events across the country. A loss to all and the Irish arts scene. RIP.<\/p>\n<p>Here is one of my favourite verses of his: <a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/paulcurranspokenword\/four\">&#8220;Four&#8221;<\/a>&#8230; I hope he met his friend wherever they both are now&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Nothing travels faster than bad news&#8230;<br \/>\nEven more so in this modern age:<br \/>\nAlas I read of another death<br \/>\nOf one with whom I once shared the stage<\/p>\n<p>But, so young, best days to come<br \/>\nDays that were never to be<br \/>\nWe know not the day or hour<br \/>\nWe face our mortality.<\/p>\n<p>Memories left, times shared<br \/>\nWe didn&#8217;t know each other well<br \/>\nStories I shall in old age<br \/>\nOf him, his verse, to others tell.<\/p>\n<p>Shakespeare, Goldsmith, Kavanagh , Frost<br \/>\nAll met death as all must do&#8230;<br \/>\nBut they did in proper time<br \/>\nUnlike him that I once knew&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>He passed at the age of Burns,<br \/>\nIf he was that age at all<br \/>\nA Super Moon fills the night sky<br \/>\nA gentle drizzle outside does fall.<\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t know when we paper take<br \/>\nWill these be last words we write<br \/>\nI remember a poet who went to soon<br \/>\nIn the gloomy shadows of the passing night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alas,\u00a0 I learned of the passing of a poet Paul Curran I shared a stage with often at Scene of the Rhyme and other events.
