Is It But a Notion?"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>As the Catalan Independence movement is crushed for now by Spain, we remember the Irish declaration of 1919&#8230; the events of the last few weeks show that war not peace makes nations free, alas&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ireland&#8230; 21st of January 1919<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The isle of saints and of scholars&#8230;<br \/>\nA land of Gaelic and Green<br \/>\nA land where all were of Royalty&#8230;<br \/>\nWas it a land that has never has been?<br \/>\nThe land of the Celtic Tiger&#8230;<br \/>\nSo silent to most was its roar&#8230;<br \/>\nTo those deaf to its bellowing<br \/>\nLife was just as before&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Lots of work and little pay&#8230;<br \/>\nGive all of your money for rent&#8230;<br \/>\nDont complain&#8230; no but be grateful&#8230;<br \/>\nShut the hell up and be content.<br \/>\nNever get to own your own home<br \/>\nThough you pay as much to live in a flat&#8230;<br \/>\nThink of the money you\u2019d save and could squander<br \/>\nIf you moved into a squat!<\/p>\n<p>The Ireland of dreams and of dreamers<br \/>\nAye, it is an Island of Dreams<br \/>\nThe truth is sen in today and tomorrow&#8230;<br \/>\nNothing is as green as it seems&#8230;<br \/>\nTo get ahead once again the Irish<br \/>\nToforiegn lands will have to fly<br \/>\nAs the Slav from the east makes a new life in Erin<br \/>\nThe Gael in America will die&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>For that is capitalism<br \/>\nIt consumes a nation: whole<br \/>\nDisplaces entire peoples&#8230;<br \/>\nDestroys a nations soul&#8230;<br \/>\nBut Erin is resilliant<br \/>\nWe will absorb like before<br \/>\nAnd evolve to Slavo &#8211; Celts in the furture<br \/>\nAnd a fututre we will have once more&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>So heres to the Irish and Erin<br \/>\nAnd her children all over the world flung<br \/>\nTo our language, our culture our heritage<br \/>\nHere is to our native tongue&#8230;<br \/>\nIn fity years time we may speak Polish or Russian<br \/>\nThough now it seems almost absurd<br \/>\nWouldn\u2019t it be great that those who forced us to lose our language<br \/>\nWould find on our island of theirs not one word?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the Catalan Independence movement is crushed for now by Spain, we remember the Irish declaration of 1919&#8230;
