Poor Irish – how lucky are we
\nIn these modern times, in our land all see
\nWe are looked down on by our own
\nLike those who looked up to the throne
\nWho ruled us before
\nWho rule us no more.<\/p>\n

We fought them and won
\nBlood spilled by sword and by gun
\nIn freedom declared we believed
\nFought for and achieved
\nAs Ireland now has freedom
