\nWhile out walking near Salthill a few days back, a man cutting roses from a bush outside a derelict house talked to me as I passed…<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Saltair in the sunshine
\nSaltair in the rains
\nNorth coast to the west coast
\nThe salt sea air remains…<\/p>\n

To remind the Northman of the docklands
\nThat home is where he is from
\nHome is where he breathes the salt sea air
\nTo home he here has come.<\/p>\n

“Did you know Old Burke at all?”
\nHe asked me, the passer by…
\n“I did not, Im not from here,
\nJust out walking” was my reply…<\/p>\n

We spoke a little of Tullamore
\nHe knew some folk from there
\nSpoke of his love as a docker from the North
\nOf the sea and salty air…<\/p>\n

From Shankill down to Salthill
\nFrom then right down to now
\nLife for a docksman is by the sea
