Church at Edgeworthstown – to spite scandals our faith is still important in Ireland<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

When the dusk falls on a winters evening
\nPealing is heard the Angelous bell
\nThe old man blesses himself who is leaning
\nOn a bike old that stories could tell
\nOf the roads it rolled over on journeys
\nIt carried its owner on through sorrows and joys
\nThat bike though newer was like the first one he had
\nWhen he and his brother were boys
\nWith girls on the crossbar after the dance
\nAt the dancehall they never would miss
\nThe girls were more reserved than the young of today
\nWho no longer are happy with just a kiss<\/p>\n

But the young of today live life in their own way
\nMore honest, less hidden in days that long did pass
\nFaith more private, sinning more public, is seen
\nThe youth are rare seen at mass.
\nBut the boy racer who speeds in his car
\nThe wild girl beside him like her grandmother long ago
\nThe wildest of boys make the finest old men
\nThat knowledge women if all ages know
\nBut passing the cemetry the cool mask slips
\nThe boy blesses himself as he drives by
\nIts tradition, a gesture, a show of respect
\nNo one wonders or passes remarks as to why.<\/p>\n

We live in a different time today
\nNot as innocent as times past before
\nThe big walls that held secrets are empty now
\nHold within the inmates no more.
\nSociety is more honest if publically less pious is seen
\nSilent are they prayers said that we pray
\nWe have never been as holy as now when little its seen
\nWe live the faith of our mothers and fathers today…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
