The furore being kicked up over urban horses by supporters of Mike Cubbard a city council member rumbles on.<\/p>\n

Something of a Donald Trump of the Wild West of Ireland, it smacks of more anti Traveller sentiment than pro horse welfare.<\/p>\n

Suggestions of mine for commonage and stabling to come from recreation (parks and playground) finances kept the mantra of “we need money for houses” coming even though thats a red circled budget.<\/p>\n

Its more NIMBYism than anything. But sure pandering to and stoking peoples passions gets votes, even if its kicking a whole community who he claims to have “good friends ” anong. Akin to Trump and the Mexican he seems to concede “some are good people”.<\/p>\n

\u20ac75000 odd it cost to round up horses and kill them for their own good. Less than housing one family. And at that high a price someone is making a killing from it… <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Before the car horses were always kept in the town in stables in yards. These are in Ballinamuck in Longford in a field where the NIMBY brigade want to send all horses. Not to Ballinamuck but out the country, out of sight.<\/figcaption><\/figure>I<\/p>\n

Horses do not belong in a town
\nSays the gibbering nyeuck to the bigoted clown
\nTravellers cannot camp on the road
\nThey must conform to the commonest word.<\/p>\n

No paddocks on an estate green
\nAs if horses in towns were never seen
\nNo stables in yards to be built
\nDeclare the great without any guilt.<\/p>\n

Before cars how did folk get around?
\nYes! Horses in towns were found!
\nBut Travellers lived on a country lane
\nSo over horse welfare few went insane.<\/p>\n

Seize the horses for their own good
\nGoes the order that be seized they should
\nFor the great and the good have so willed
\nIt baffles me how its good for their health as they are killed!<\/p>\n

No Ghengis Khans in Galway
\nBut plenty of cowboys at play
\nThose who claim for housing most of all
\nFor funding to be denied to horses they call.<\/p>\n

The council builts skater parks on squares
\nPitches for sports everywhere
\nBut if some ask for a track for trotting
\nAll look into full pockets : say there is nothing.<\/p>\n

When one self styled wandering lothario
\nLeaves a girl in trouble and says cheerio
\nIts costs more to house her and her child – than for all those horses to ‘care’
\nSure the rest of society to pay is there.<\/p>\n

It is but NIMBYISM i fear
\nAimed at the commonest ear
\nThe Irish Donald Trumps will win alas
