Before school the walk began
\nThrough the fields down to the well
\nWater carried to the house for the day
\nRepeated when they got home from school as well
\n“Whenever we have water about the house
\nWe will have everything” the saying went
\nThe water came in its own good time
\nThe people delighted were content.<\/p>\n

In time the government said
\nWater supply had to be paid
\nResisted by the already overtaxed
\nA compromise of sorts was made
\nTwo per cent onto VAT
\n5 onto car tax and registration
\nThe issue settled for a while
\nProsperity came to the nation.<\/p>\n

Prosperity passed as it always does
\nBar the well of money in the banks went dry
\nBailed out by taxpayers due to government decree
\nNone of whom stopped to ask how or why
\nThe money for the water was taken
\nTo pay back the bail out for the banks
\nThe Germans kept grabbing and took it all
\nDemanded it all, never said thanks.<\/p>\n

The people took to the street again
\nIn tens of thousands they protested
\nSat down on the road in the face of police
\nGot baton charged, harassed, and arrested.
\nThe people complained about the protesters
\nWho wanted to pay for nothing at all
\nWho did not know the value of water
\nAccording to the Water Carrier Know it All…<\/p>\n

Well, those from these city streets
\nThose allies from their country farms
\nThey and their forefathers too
\nCarried the buckets of water with tired arms.
\nThey worked, the paid, will not pay again
\nNo matter how party loyalists cry
\nWho put party above country in a treason of our times
