No, Ive not won the lottory or became famous, I was dropped off in Athens red light district by a stupid taxi driver who did not realise I wanted my B&amp;B on that street. The trials of a traveling poet!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The African girls smiling, even from the eyes,<br \/>\nAnd jumping, laughing screaming<br \/>\nAnd I, apprehensive knew I wasn&#8217;t<br \/>\nBut wished I was only dreaming.<br \/>\nId heard about the hookers<br \/>\nWho done business outside the door<br \/>\nI did not know it was quite THIS bad<br \/>\nId never seen the likes before.<br \/>\nGetting out of the car I dropped my Coke<br \/>\nWhich one dusky beauty pointed out<br \/>\nI picked it up, careful to keep my balence<br \/>\nChecking was there any heavies or pimps about.<br \/>\nAs I could not see the doorway<br \/>\nI decided for to flee<br \/>\nFirmly, slowly, steadily I went<br \/>\nTo cries of &#8220;Fooker&#8221; echoing after me.<br \/>\nIt turns out the taxi driver<br \/>\nHe could not understand<br \/>\nI wanted the hostel on that street<br \/>\nHe though Id other things planned!<br \/>\nHe dropped me off the wrong end of it<br \/>\nAnd as the girls on my arms tugged<br \/>\nI though it best to get away<br \/>\nIn case that I was mugged.<br \/>\nAnd sitting in a new hotel in safety<br \/>\nAs I drink a cold Greek &#8220;Mythos&#8221; beer<br \/>\nI think the nights events quite surreal<br \/>\nBut Im glad to be here.<br \/>\nI now know what its like to be a pop star<br \/>\nThey all want you &#8211; yet they do not<br \/>\nThey tug out of you to take them<br \/>\nSo they can have what you&#8217;ve got.<br \/>\nAnd some of them were beautiful<br \/>\nThey could be models in another life<br \/>\nThere was a kindness in their eyes<br \/>\nTheyd make someone a nice wife&#8230;<br \/>\nYet through drugs, or pimps, or poverty<br \/>\nTheir trade all night they ply<br \/>\nAnd get exited, screaming and smiling from the eyes<br \/>\nAt the sight of idiots like I!<br \/>\nIm the only Irishman in history<br \/>\nThat a taxi driver can leave at a bevy of hookers beside<br \/>\nWith lots of cash in his pocket<br \/>\nWho walks away, and does not get a ride!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The African girls smiling, even from the eyes, And jumping, laughing screaming And I, apprehensive knew I wasn&#8217;t But wished I was only dreaming.
