The swamplands are a euphenism the illness and the battle against it.. its a bit long winded the verse, but I hope they get some comfort and strength from it<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We walk the long hard roads of life<br \/>\nMost of which is not even tarred<br \/>\nWe wade through the mucky gaps we meet<br \/>\nDo not even notice that its hard<br \/>\nEach milestone in life that we meet<br \/>\nIs us cresting another hill<br \/>\nFrom the depths of the valleys we find<br \/>\nAn instinct to supplement the will<\/p>\n<p>Along we way we meet somewhere<br \/>\nSomeone else who walks alone<br \/>\nWe decide, the beauty of life to do &#8211; that we<br \/>\nShall walk a path together , not on our own<br \/>\nWe pull each other up upon lifes ditches<br \/>\nWe dry and wipe each others tears<br \/>\nWe shout encouragement when cowardice strikes<br \/>\nWhen our feet freeze from our fears.<\/p>\n<p>We berate each others shortcomings<br \/>\nWhen we complain of the heat or the wind or the cold<br \/>\nWe long for the rest of the green meadows<br \/>\nWe are promised to walk when we are old.<br \/>\nBut sometimes &#8211; and oh, so often &#8211;<br \/>\nWhen we breach another hills crest<br \/>\nWe find the ground that we have found<br \/>\nIs much more treacherous than the rest.<\/p>\n<p>We cant go back, we must go forward<br \/>\nBe careful with every step we take<br \/>\nThats when we most need each other<br \/>\nThats when good journeyfolk we make.<br \/>\nIts in these swamps and steeps shale slopes<br \/>\nWhere we skid and hit against rocks<br \/>\nWe value the journey and the companion<br \/>\nThat give us the strength to endure the shocks.<\/p>\n<p>So fear not to enter the marshland before you<br \/>\nStep slow and sure in the bog<br \/>\nYour companion beside you will guide you<br \/>\nTogether you find a safe path in the fog.<br \/>\nThe way forward will be slow and will test you<br \/>\nBut there is another dry back across there<br \/>\nHere in the trials of the swamplands<br \/>\nYou shall find the value of prayer.<\/p>\n<p>Whether to God, or to Bhudda or Kirshna<br \/>\nOr to an unknown entity, call it blind faith<br \/>\nThrough meditation or through dedication<br \/>\nEach step is a pilgrimage you make.<br \/>\nSo, step into those swamplands together<br \/>\nRoar &#8220;bring it on!&#8221; as the fog swirls around<br \/>\nEnjoy every sure step taken as its own victory<br \/>\nIn your trials your peace you will have found!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Genes current battle is a struggle for him and Margo as it is for all couples who go through this, or who may in times to come, and this is written for them.
