We know little of what is around the bend, and nothing of what is over the hill on the journey of life… just that we must keep on going…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Genes current battle is a struggle for him and Margo as it is for all couples who go through this, or who may in times to come, and this is written for them. The swamplands are a euphenism the illness and the battle against it.. its a bit long winded the verse, but I hope they get some comfort and strength from it<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We walk the long hard roads of life
\nMost of which is not even tarred
\nWe wade through the mucky gaps we meet
\nDo not even notice that its hard
\nEach milestone in life that we meet
\nIs us cresting another hill
\nFrom the depths of the valleys we find
\nAn instinct to supplement the will<\/p>\n

Along we way we meet somewhere
\nSomeone else who walks alone
\nWe decide, the beauty of life to do – that we
\nShall walk a path together , not on our own
\nWe pull each other up upon lifes ditches
\nWe dry and wipe each others tears
\nWe shout encouragement when cowardice strikes
\nWhen our feet freeze from our fears.<\/p>\n

We berate each others shortcomings
\nWhen we complain of the heat or the wind or the cold
\nWe long for the rest of the green meadows
\nWe are promised to walk when we are old.
\nBut sometimes – and oh, so often –
\nWhen we breach another hills crest
\nWe find the ground that we have found
\nIs much more treacherous than the rest.<\/p>\n

We cant go back, we must go forward
\nBe careful with every step we take
\nThats when we most need each other
\nThats when good journeyfolk we make.
\nIts in these swamps and steeps shale slopes
\nWhere we skid and hit against rocks
\nWe value the journey and the companion
\nThat give us the strength to endure the shocks.<\/p>\n

So fear not to enter the marshland before you
\nStep slow and sure in the bog
\nYour companion beside you will guide you
\nTogether you find a safe path in the fog.
\nThe way forward will be slow and will test you
\nBut there is another dry back across there
\nHere in the trials of the swamplands
\nYou shall find the value of prayer.<\/p>\n

Whether to God, or to Bhudda or Kirshna
\nOr to an unknown entity, call it blind faith
\nThrough meditation or through dedication
\nEach step is a pilgrimage you make.
\nSo, step into those swamplands together
\nRoar “bring it on!” as the fog swirls around
\nEnjoy every sure step taken as its own victory
