The writer Francis Stuart, of Aosdana. He never fired a shot, but was part of the regime. Many other Irish did, only a few of the less successful and addition being profiled in the book “Hitlers Irishmen”<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Many men faught not for Ireland
\nBut under another flag
\nAnd of their deeds our folklore feeds
\nOf them we like to brag
\nBut there are those of whom
\nA silence does not speak
\nA veil is drawn as if to warn
\nThat knowledge of them one should not seek.<\/p>\n

Underneath the Swastika
\nFew men now confess
\nThat they one time winningly served
\nAnd not loved their country less
\nFor Germany was not OUR enemy
\nAgainst us struck no blow
\nAnd may aid and new Irish Brigade
\nSo a United Ireland we may know.<\/p>\n

And in the aftermath
\nWhen the counting was done
\nAll hushed their role hiding a shamed soul
\nIn the war they had not won.
\nWere they any less Irish
\nThen those who faught neath the Union Jack
\nNether faught against Ireland, all loved their homeland
\nYet were despised when they came back.<\/p>\n

God will judge all souls
\nDeclare the good and the bad in time
\nWeigh the reasons for why men faught and did die
\nNo matter how we think it a crime
\nFor the Soviet Union too killed millions
\nFrom Tartarstan to the Ukraine
\nBy famine, in gulag, under the Red Flag
\nSo the Workers Republic could gain<\/p>\n
