While there, looking at pictures of now famous Irish writers on the wall some years back, I, a writer as I call myself, wondered will someday my picture hang there? I think every writer wonders of their legacy after their day&#8230; no? This is a very old verse of mine I republish on the website&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As I pay, I look on their faces<br \/>\nAnd I wonder, are they proud<br \/>\nNow that they are acknowledged with<br \/>\nThe respect in life so often not allowed? <\/p>\n<p>And as I eat I wonder will<br \/>\nOn some far off distant day<br \/>\nMy picture, name and words shall be<br \/>\nOn a wall in the Muses Caf\u00e9? <\/p>\n<p>Could I reach the heights they&#8217;ve known<br \/>\nWith my offerings of poetry and prose<br \/>\nShall my name be as synonymous as theirs<br \/>\nOnly I care and only God knows <\/p>\n<p>Did they on a day now past<br \/>\nWonder then as I now, of their future fame<br \/>\nThe only reward that surrounds our death<br \/>\nFor anonymity is the ulimate shame <\/p>\n<p>As they sat and wrote with quill<br \/>\nDid they think as I: as I scribble in Biro<br \/>\nA rhyme to pass the time or record a thought<br \/>\nOf women, nature, or wonders south of Cairo? <\/p>\n<p>The till girl smiles, pearl white teeth with ruby lips<br \/>\nShy downward glance and snow white skin&#8230;<br \/>\nShall I from those walls of the Muses Caf\u00e9 look down<br \/>\nAs another admires another and dreams of original sin? <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Easons on Dublins O&#8217; Connell Street has a Cafe called Muses&#8230; appropiate for a bookshop!
