Bad and all as the abuse scandals cover up was since 1922, imagine trying to uncover that with the entire Royal machine behind the church to stop you?<\/p>\n<p>Maybe God had a reason for James losing the war&#8230; so while saying a silent prayer for the dead Jacobites and a silent toast to the King O&#8217;er the Water, I gave a silent nod to William too&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Neath Aughrim hill, at the Fair I stood<br \/>\nOn a lane once washed with human blood<br \/>\nWhere horses wild ran in for their lives in vein<br \/>\nDied beside man in a fight for which neither gain.<\/p>\n<p>We lost that battle, as we did the Boyne before<br \/>\nWe were to lose the war too, and rebellions, many more<br \/>\nWe rebel and rise up as we think that we are right<br \/>\nAs fools do who never learn, you lose when you fight.<\/p>\n<p>I said on that roadway, a silent prayer<br \/>\nFor the tortured spirits who tied tragic on these fields there<br \/>\nI gave a silent toast to the King O&#8217;er the Water<br \/>\nAnd a grave nod to the man who married the kings daughter.<\/p>\n<p>Why to your victor do you give nod, I hear you say?<br \/>\nI think back to where our little island is here today<br \/>\nIf James had won, we would have had in these islands a Catholic state<br \/>\nLike we had since 1922 which was not so great&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The freedom we take for granted the church to criticize<br \/>\nWe would not have had we not lost, we must realise<br \/>\nTo free the Protestants he fought, he solemnly did state<br \/>\nNot to persecute the Catholics, unlike those who call him great.<\/p>\n<p>The abuse scandals, hushed and all, at last exposed<br \/>\nNever would have been had James not been deposed<br \/>\nIn all things God has a plan that us men cannot see<br \/>\nSometimes we must endure bondage in order to be free.<\/p>\n<p>The Pope of the day was Williams ally<br \/>\nA tactical one say those who the Popes words deny<br \/>\nWhen he crossed over to the Stewards, his war with France now won<br \/>\nThe bigots got power in London, and the Penal times begun.<\/p>\n<p>Give to Cesear whats his, the words Jesus said:<br \/>\nIf only were practiced, how many would not be dead?<br \/>\nThere would be no parades, there would be little hate<br \/>\nThis island of ours would be united and great&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The church in politics, it has no place<br \/>\nThe devil is in power, and shows up his face<br \/>\nAs dogma clouds Jesus words, we condemn fornication<br \/>\nYet we murder another for being from the wrong nation.<\/p>\n<p>Politics in the church has no place too<br \/>\nEveryman is a sinner equal in his pew<br \/>\nIf too late we so late this lesson we learn<br \/>\nIt might be worth all the pain it took to earn.<\/p>\n<p>So I toasted two kings as I walked roads where fools died for these kings<br \/>\nI walked back to horse traders and more modern times and things<br \/>\nAs I left behind me the fields of slaughter there<br \/>\nI hoped for a time when Aughrim is known way more for its Fair.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1280px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/f\/fd\/John_Mulvany_-_The_Battle_of_Aughrim.jpg\/1280px-John_Mulvany_-_The_Battle_of_Aughrim.jpg\" width=\"1280\" height=\"612\" alt=\"John Mulvany - The Battle of Aughrim\" class \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">John Mulvany &#8211; The Battle of Aughrim<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was at the Aughrim Horse Fair last Sunday, and while viewing all of the horses &#8211; and the women!
