A Jewish guide in the Pinkas synagogue tells a story that the Star of David is not a Jewish one at all but invented by Christians to carve into headstones so that God would know to save only those with crosses on their headstones. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A story to other visitors told
\nThat the Star of David is not really a symbol of the Jews
\nCaptured by attention on the spot
\nSo I listened to the story that my sense of history did confuse<\/p>\n

Apparently in days gone by
\nWhen their faith they had to change
\nConvert or die it was the rule
\nThat today seems so strange
\nSo many did, and baptised were
\nBut when they died their soul God would not save
\nAs they were not baptised at Birth
\nThose that were had on their grave
\nCarved a cross, so that on Judgment day
\nThose to be saved got would know
\nFor when he looked on their headstones
\nA cross there carved would show.<\/p>\n

And someone thinking cleverly
\nTo thwart the Jews they tried
\nSaid they would carve crosses on their dead’s graves
\nSo they’d be saved when they died
\nAnd God been stupid needed their help
\nSo that in this they could not succeed
\nOh those pesky Jews, always underhand
\nYes, they would do such a deed!<\/p>\n

And so stars of David they were carved
\nUpon the Jewish gravestones
\nSo that the damned lay there, ‘twould be known
\nThese were a Jews bones
\nFor you can always change your faith
\nThat or die you must do
\nAnd your faith can be great as a Catholic
\nBut your always a Jew.<\/p>\n

God for such men must be thankful
\nWhen will there be their likes again
\nMen good who will help their stupid God
\nTo distinguish baptised born men.
\nThe truth in the story I do not know
\nI heard it related to a man and a woman old
\nIn the Pinkas synagogue courtyard
