There was a rainbow over the town of Clidfen in Connemara when I visited it a couple of days ago, I wondered was it a good omen for the same sex marraige referendum, and it seems that it was as it has passed with room to spare. The youth, not known for voting, came back in planes to vote from abroad, such is the depth of feeling on the matter…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

They came by boat, they came by plane
\nThey went by busses, I got the train
\nThey registered to vote who never voted before
\nI voted, having never missed the chance to, in Tullamore<\/p>\n

The rainbow seen before over Clifden town
\nI wondered was it a good omen as on it I looked down
\nIt seems it was, Im proud I must confess
\nTo be Irish today, for we voted YES!<\/p>\n

Everything changed on paper, a beauty born
\nYet nothing has changed, I must warn
\nThis is of the battle against bigotry the easy part:
\nIt will take time to change each hardened heart…<\/p>\n

They came, the conquored, they returned content
\nTo the scattered homes across the globe they went
\nOr to scattered cities, where they now live
\nWhere to survive and thrive, so much they give…<\/p>\n

If we can keep this passion, austerity matters too…
\nIf we can channel this action, we can turn the few
\nWho heretofor to the system stood
\nTo a flood to fight for the common good!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
