{"id":1645,"date":"2015-04-19T07:29:05","date_gmt":"2015-04-19T07:29:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.writingsinrhyme.com\/?p=1645"},"modified":"2015-04-19T07:29:05","modified_gmt":"2015-04-19T07:29:05","slug":"summits-reached-before-depths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/writingsinrhyme.com\/index.php\/summits-reached-before-depths\/","title":{"rendered":"Summits Reached Before Depths"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I climbed Cairn Hills summit step by step<br \/>\nOn a day when all was well<br \/>\nThe depths to which I was about to sink<br \/>\nFate had in store I could not tell<br \/>\nThe sun shone bright: a summers day<br \/>\nHow could I foresee<br \/>\nThat fire and fate so would conspire<br \/>\nAgainst a climber like me?<\/p>\n<p>One year later, I climbed again<br \/>\nWith apprehension this time:<br \/>\nWhat depths lay ahead for me to descend<br \/>\nAfter I cross a Kerry summit this time?<br \/>\nIs that just superstition?<br \/>\nOr is that the pattern of life<br \/>\nThat peace attained is judged ill gained<br \/>\nSo we must pay the penalty of strife?<\/p>\n<address>This time last year I climbed Cairn Hill in Longford, an ambition fulfilled and all was well, and I was set to have the house finished by and large by that September. Then, on the May Day bank holiday Sunday night, fire took hold and burned it back to the walls. From literally the heights of happiness to the depths of despair in the space of less than a week, it was with tepridation I done the Kerry Way a few weeks ago, for a superstitions fear that similar life changing events may happen again. I hope thats just a superstition, and in fact its a turning point for the better.
