Smoke had cleared, blood clotted, breaths gone
\nFlies feasted on the dead
\nVictories armies raged the land
\nMen fled to hills and bogs, prices on their head…<\/p>\n
One such morning the Williamites came
\nTo a house where the menfolk were killed
\nWhere the Boyne waters flowed, before their king fled
\nThe blood of the Drakes brave was spilled.<\/p>\n
One man and five sons, all of his line,
\nHis cousins and kinsmen too
\nClan of renown, who had fought for the Crown
\nThe fury of O Tooles they too well knew.<\/p>\n
Yet again kings at war and they must pick a side
\nOnce again on the side that had lost
\nFor all that they gave for the Crown and the land
\nThey as the least to their fate they were tossed.<\/p>\n
Servant faithful tried the infant son to save,
\nTo the far bank child and his sister in a basket set afloat
\nAs if Moses on the Nile, families future, a mere child…
\nThe Goddess River carried save in his weaved boat.<\/p>\n
The Drakes that today in the area live work and pray,
\nHave to thank this unknown servant for their deed
\nOf those not of the name, but descended from just the same
