Where fear drove comfort out; straw on the floor
\nWas price of conquering security.

We are citizens! Not consumers
\nDemocracy is the peoples rule
\nNot that of corporations
\nWho hold the taxpayer a fool
\nThe small man who pays too much
\nThe rich who little pay at all
\nThe indifferent who profit from chaos
\nCapitalism, it they call.<\/p>\n

We are voters, not fools
\nWe wont be told to vote left or right
\nFor corporate political think thanks
\nWho use our discontent as their might.
\nWe are against austerity in times of plenty
\nWe are against capitalism’s tyrannic rule
\nWe are not for political exploitation
\nTo introduce abortion a mere tool!<\/p>\n

Jacobites and Marxists, whatever is your creed
\nYou agree the little man should not own his home
\nOne thinks homes should be owned by landlords, the others say the state:
\nWe say, we want our homesteads and our lands our own!
\nTrade Unionists, its good that for civil servants you fight
\nFor better pay and conditions all the while…
\nBut why do you forget the private low paid sector worker
\nOffer to us false hopes with a false smile?<\/p>\n

We hear the charlatan utter utter waffle aimed at the commonest ear
\nCommon we as people are as a people proud
\nBut to twist our minds to hate workers, immigrants, or others
\nThat by our solidarity will not be allowed!
\nWe will keep our horsefairs<\/strong><\/a>, though they be seen to be the preserve
\nOf the Traveller Irish and Anglo Irish peoples
\nHands off our traditions, one of the few we all today share
\nAnd have done for four hundred years neath both of Banaghers steeples!<\/p>\n

Let this be a warning to politicians
\nAs we one the streets amass
\nThis protest is about more than mere water
\nTo appease the working class
\nTaxes on homes, yellow unions are also on the bill
\nWe will topple new TD’s who false prophets prove to be
\nWe will not allow corporations to become new landlords
\nWe will keep our homes from banks, and keep our water free!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
