As if once more nailed to a cross
\nIn Dublin, Christ was crucified
\nWhere on a street beside the D\u00e1il
\nThe least of his slept and died.
\nAnother story in the news
\nWhere their duty to the people forsaking
\nA government shed crocodile tears false as their smiles
\nAbout a situation of their making.<\/p>\n

The night before on Georges street
\nTwo homeless men I passed
\nRowing over who had the right to sleep in a doorway
\nBased on the nights gone past.
\nOne said – who was in the doorway – he was there for weeks
\nPointing for backup to another who there I did meet
\nMet with verbal abuse from the other man
\nWho said “I know all this end of the street”<\/p>\n

As I passed them both, and they out of earshot fell
\nI said a silent prayer
\nIn thanks this Christmas its them and not me
\nWho ague over that doorway there.
\nBut for the grace of God and all that
\nOn Facebook I did write
\nNot knowing for another on this earth
\nIt was to be his last night.<\/p>\n

The dawn coming was the last he’d see
\nIn an ending he did not choose
\nAs a three day wonder his death would be
\nKnown all over the land in the news.<\/p>\n
